Our Goal is Long Horns!
The summer here in Central Texas has been long, hot and dry! We need rain as much as we need temps lower than 100! We are now at 50+ days of l00 degrees and looks like we will be "enjoying" this for several more weeks.
A delightful relief from the heat of Central Texas was our trip to Colorado Springs where we recently took two of our cows, 585 Riptide and her calf as well as our embryo recipient XC Ralphena for the Rocky Mountain Select Sale. The hospitality shown by all and especially the hosts, Stan and Lorna Searle and Gary and Donna Lake, was outstanding. The Pre-Sale party was a relaxing way to meet breeders and visit with old friends. We are already looking forward to next year!
Our thanks goes to Charles Fike of Colorado on his purchase of 585 Riptide and Warren and Cathy Dorathy of Sanger, California, who purchased our recipient cow carrying the embryo calf out of our 80+” RM Touch N Whirl Pat cow and 80+” bull Respect Me. This calf is due in December of this year and we are excited about the future of this animal from an 80+” dam and 80+” sire. More information about our embryo transfer program is on the
Embryo Page
of this web site.
With the fall, hopefully, will come cooler weather and the World Championship in Mesquite, Texas and the 2011 Horn Showcase in Fort Worth. The animals we entered in these events last year did very well. The above mentioned RM Touch N Whirl Pat won First Place in Total Horn, Second Place in Tip to Tip, and Third Place in Composite Horn in the World Championship. For the Horn Showcase, Pat placed First Place in both Composite and Tip to Tip as well as Second Place in Total Horn. From our breeding program our young cow, XC Good Gracious, took Second Place in the Tip to Tip.
For this year’s Horn Showcase, three animals from our breeding program, XC Bright Spot, XC Quita’s Light, and XC Rio Andy, as well as RM Touch N Whirl Pat will be in competition. XC Bright Spot (who is confirmed AI’d to Rodeo Max ST) and a recipient cow, ASOCL Unstopabull Pleasure, with embryo transfer calf from RM Touch N Whirl Pat and Rodeo Max ST will be in the Horn Showcase Sale.
